Films

so whats the flavour of choice

normally I cannot watch them
over an hour is a very long time to sit still but there are exceptions
really good stories like the constant gardener which make you think

or my pure indulgence films
like Transformers and The Watchmen

I love Transformers
ok the story not that believable but that is the point
the sound effects
the special effects
amazing
the bit where it slow mo's so you see optimus prime punching the eye out of bone crusher oh yes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pklbulbk … re=related
got some serious bad acting like Megan Fox (wouldnt mind looking like her) doing the old 'so why are you here' look serious at a blue screen and everything else falls silent to build the moment making it one of the funniest scenes in the movie
but its a must have in a film like that

you might get the impression I have seen this film a few times and you would be right along wtih X-men and Drive* I think they are my most watched films

I have even marked in my diary the release date for the Transformers 2 revenge of the fallen
http://www.transformersmovie.com/

*Drive is a martial arts film with one of the best fight scenes in a hotel room

Re: Films

just come back from wolverine
purposely didnt see the unfinished version and glad I didnt
good film
special effects were good
some good acting esp from Liev Schrieber
some really crap acting namely the doctor

however strayed far too much from the original cartoons and comics which let it down for me
did enjoy it though despite some of the very obvious twists
bit near the end has a decapitated head floating down and its funny as fuck

Re: Films

I've been such a lazy filmgoer lately. I haven't seen a movie in theatres since Christmas time and that was Slumdog Millionaire. I've never really gotten into comic book films though.

Re: Films

ah. i love films. my friends say i watch too many [thank god for blockbuster online or i'd be broke]

recently saw.. startrek! SOOO GOOOD. i didnt know much about startrek going into it but it was done really well so even slow persons like mua can follow.
unlike how i heard watchmen was. if you didnt read it, apparently you'd be screwed trying to watch it?

and angels and demons.
i liked the book, read it about 5 years ago. movie wasnt like.. spectacular but not that it was bad. it was enjoyable just it got really like.. national treasure-y at times hmm

watchmen I thought was great and I have only now got the comic
I dont think there was anything really that I didnt get enough to follow the film
there as some fantastic comic book scenes which you can see are taken straight out of the book
opening scene is a bit full on and the sex scene is embarrassing apart from that very enjoyable
even did a few full out LOLz

I cannot get into Dan Brown at all
thought the Da Vinci code was badly written and I got lost in the first chapter
If I had thought the story was good enough to get into I would have continued however seeing the film what I thought was going to happen from the opening did so I am very glad I didnt waste my time on it
needless to say I didnt get as far as Angels and Demons

Re: Films

I went to see "Up !" last weekend. Fantastic animation from Pixar, of course. Some theatres showing it in 3D. You'd be fine if you didn't see it in 3D. There are a few lump in your throat, teary moments (bring a tissue....heh) but there are also plenty of laughs and action scenes. 2 thumbs up smile

Re: Films

Watched 'Drag Me To Hell' the other saturday with the missus, was a pretty good film actually, good storyline and reasonable acting. Some of the parts had obvious fakeness factors to them but was still enough to keep you tense.

I do recommend smile

Watched Hunger this week...unsurprisingly unremittingly grim so not a recommendation.  Need to watch something more uplifting methinks.

i saw "city of god" last night. and surprisingly even though it was 1 am when i started i was wide awake through it all because it was really good. i had it in my house for the longest time and never bothered to watch it cuz the cover made me think it was about soemthing else? lol well it was really really good.

re-saw "dawn of the dead" today. funnily bad dialogue but its still the best zombie movie.

Re: Films

Saw Harry Potter yesterday, it was almost 3 hours and it missed bits out!
i was a bit hungover when i saw it so i might be a bit biased against it but it wasnt as good as the book.
Luna Lovegood is amazing though!
i found there were alots of scenes that seemed like the new professor was a pedophile,
i laughed out loud when Harry said "i was just admiring your hourglass"
