One of my current favorites is one of the bands who played at my birthday party last week. They remind me a little bit of The Libertines and maybe even The Jam. Please forgive if my comparisons are not completely accurate ;-).

Any Black Keys fan out there ?

If so, one of the members, Dan Auerbach, has a solo record out and he's been touring all over the place. His solo tour will be in 3 UK cities next month. I haven't properly checked out the record yet but I did see him perform during SXSW. One of the reasons was because I know his backing band (who also happen to be his support act as well). As his backing band, they're called The Fast Five. As the support band, they're called Hacienda. They have a roots rock/garage rock sound. The Black and White Years are an Austin band that I've enjoyed over the past year or so. The short description of their sound could be "electro dance rock". It's not all synths though -- plenty of guitars and catchy hooks.
They're coming to London next month where they'll be playing at Wireless Festival on  July 4th and 5th.

There was an update sent out from their MySpace and Facebook pages. Apparently their drummer is injured.

Brendan Benson is mostly known as a member of The Raconteurs but he's also had a fine solo career. His 4th solo release, My Old Familiar Friend, is out on Aug 18th. His solo stuff has a much catchier, poppier vibe than The Raconteurs material.
